God First. Blog Later.

I wonder what would happen if we spent as much time with God as we do our blog? Consider the amount of time you take to fix up and design your blog, then think about the time you take to read the Bible and "fix up" your relationship with God. Do you spend more time with your blog than with God? I have to tell you, I catch myself being guilty of doing this. Blogger can be an excellent tool but it also can be a bad one if it makes us obsess over it instead of taking time to be in the Word of God and in prayer with our Savior. What would it be like if we obsessed over Christ like we sometimes do with our blog? We would be more concerned about the lost than we would be about the number of blog followers we have, we would take time studying the Bible instead of scrutinizing the appearance of our writing, and we would care more about how our heart looks than how well our sidebar looks. Before you all begin thinking that I want everyone to delete their blog and go running off to a convent (that wouldn't work, I'm not Catholic) let me explain something. I feel that your blog can help further the Gospel of Christ, just make sure you can do that and spend adequate time with Jesus instead of spending all your time on Blogger. This post is a challenge to me more than I'm writing it as a challenge to you, praise the Lord if you've never struggled with delegating your time evenly between two things. Spend time with God and later you will have time for everything else.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:58

I love how convicting your posts are. You aren't afraid to tell the truth-even if it means others may not respond in a certain way. If something needs to be addressed, you adress it. Continue to trust God and be obedient to Him always, you're doing great!

Good post, and very thought provoking...thanks! <3
Thank you, Elizabeth! You said what I've always felt! YES! Our blogs CAN help further the Gospel of Christ! That's my goal with my blog. Again, thank you for posting this!
God bless you!!

Very good points! Although I don't have this trouble with blogger, (I rarely post, and sometimes don't get to reading others' posts for a few days or weeks after they're written) it's very true with other things.
Anything can be more important to us then God, whether it's friends, just computer as a whole, etc. Something good can become something "bad" if it's our idol!
Yes!!! I would LOVE to be added to your blog roll! What a sweet surprise! :) Thank you so much!

Very encouraging post!
The Lord has really dealt with me about the exact thing the past few months... about spending more time with God than anything else.
That is one of the biggest reasons I took July off from posting!
Thank you so much for posting this! I really enjoyed reading it!
Have a great weekend.

Ouch, but I needed that! :D The 'ouch' is because I realized I really do spend way more time blogging than with God. Thank you for this encouraging reminder, Elizabeth! :)

What a great post, Elizabeth! It was really great timing for me, as I had just been thinking about this very thing a couple days ago--while reading several other friend's blogs. I believe that what we blog can be used by God to bring a blessing into other's lives (and several times already I've been blessed by others' blogs)--but everything needs to be done in moderation, with God being first!
Great thought-provoking post, Elizabeth! It's so important to not let anything, whether it's our blog, movies, beauty, etc., to take over our lives. It's so important to spend time with God! :)
Elizabeth, is there anyway I could maybe email you? Your comment was so encouraging!
Thanks for your comment on my blog!!!

Great point..... It can be very easy to spend more time blogging than your time in the Word.
