SO

You know that place where you can't get your violin E string back in tune and the temperature keeps dropping? I'm so there.

My patience has really started to run thin and I'm wondering if I'm going to have to panic to my violin teacher at my next lesson. I say all this to say that I thought about something as I sat struggling with the E string. Time after time that string refused to wind back up and I was getting super frustrated when this thought came to me.

What is it like for the Lord when he tries to "wind us back up" but we refuse to go? We want to go our own way and we reason that under the circumstances we're better off doing what we want than what God wants. God has more patience than I do, I put down my tuner and put my violin back in the case and declared that I would "try again later" but God doesn't do things like that, he doesn't quit. We may refuse to be "put back in place" but God doesn't quit on us, he is faithful. God waits and if we allow him to he will put us back in tune again.

I think I'm going to go sit down with my violin again, this time I am determined that it will go back in tune.

P.S. That first sentence, it's a spin off from some commercial I saw on TV.

I Will Glory in my Redeemer!

 Tuesday, February 17, 2009

One of my favorites song has the title "I Will Glory In My Redeemer" and last summer I arranged the song for myself and played it on the piano. I know that my recording has errors and such but if you do mind, please listen to the song and think about the words. May you Glory in THE Redeemer.

video

I will glory in my Redeemer

Whose priceless blood has ransomed me

Mine was the sin that drove the bitter nails

And hung Him on that judgment tree I will glory in my Redeemer

Who crushed the power of sin and death

My only Savior before the Holy Judge

The Lamb Who is my righteousness The Lamb Who is my righteousness

________

I will glory in my Redeemer

My life He bought, my love

He owns

I have no longings for another

I’m satisfied in Him alone I will glory in my Redeemer

His faithfulness my standing place Though foes are mighty and rush upon me

My feet are firm, held by His grace

My feet are firm, held by His grace

I will glory in my Redeemer

Who carries me on eagle's wings

He crowns my life with lovingkindness

His triumph song I'll ever sing

I will glory in my Redeemer

Who waits for me at gates of gold

And when He calls me it will be paradise

His face forever to behold His face forever to behold

His face forever to behold

Love Beyond Conversation Hearts

 Friday, February 13, 2009

Valentines Day is upon us and amid the roses, chocolates, jewelry, and dinners; I am wondering if very many people remember what real love is. Valentines Day seems a little ridiculous in some respects but if you're a Christian you can allow it to remind you of Someone very special, someone who didn't need personalized M&M's or Necco conversation hearts to tell us how much he loves us.

The One who loves you the most created love, and gave the word a new meaning. Jesus Christ offered himself as a living sacrifice so that we could live eternally with him if we so choose. Many times Christ displayed his love without words, he displayed his love with actions. Who hasn't heard the old saying "Action's speak louder than words"? God sent his only Son to be brutally murdered and to die upon a cross so that all generations could know and experience a love far beyond what we today think of as love, his actions spoke louder than words. There are different kinds of love and Jesus Christ was and is the perfect example sacrificial love.

"But God commended his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us"-Romans 8:28. How many people would be willing to die for everyone? Even terrorist and those who would kill him? Jesus Christ came to die for everyone and no one has to be excluded from receiving the eternal life in heaven that his love and sacrifice bought.

Jesus Christ doesn't offer us flowers, candy, or chocolate; he offers himself- love's greatest gift. The kind of love that Christ has is real and it reaches vastly beyond the "I love you" on a conversation heart. Choose Jesus, his love last, it will never fail you.
