What do YOU believe?

 Thursday, April 30, 2009

In a society that tells us "There is no absolutes, we each have our own idea of absolute", do you know what you believe and why you believe it? And, do you believe what you believe is really true. Below are 12 things I specifically believe to be true about life and God. I may not have posted everything but I will have posted the main things. If you don't know what you believe, please start to seriously search the scriptures and find out for yourself. Don't take my word for it or anyone else word- take the Bible and discover what is true. Know what you believe and why you believe it. One day you may be asked "So what do you really believe to be true anyway?" Be ready to "Always give any answer for the hope which lies within you".

I believe:

1 God is the Creator of the universe- nothing just happened.

2. There is ONE God who is in the form of three; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

3. Salvation comes ONLY by faith in Jesus Christ and is not a result of any action or action apart from having faith in Christ.

4. Marriage should be only between one man and one woman. The Bible clearly speaks against homosexuality as being wrong and biblically was punished by death.

5. God is the one who gives life and takes life. It is not up to us to decide who dies and who lives except in cases of murder (in the biblical context of capital judgment).

6. God commands that we abstain from relationships that would be inappropriate outside of marriage.

7. We are fearfully and wonderfully made.

8. God loves everyone but not everyone he loves will live eternally in heaven, only those who believe on his name.

9. Heaven and Hell are actual places. Upon death, the Christian will go to heaven and the unsaved will be cast into hell.

10. With his righteous judgment, Jesus Christ will come back to earth and judge the world.

11. Satan is real and walks about seeking who he may devour.

12. The church was founded upon Jesus Christ and includes all those who have trusted Christ as their personal Savior.

Also, the Bible is the inspired, innerat Word of God.

She's got a gorgeous voice so why does it matter what she looks like?

 Thursday, April 23, 2009

I'm sure you've all seen the videos and clips of Susan Boyle singing. Her voice is beautiful but because of the way she looked the judges of Britain's Got Talent were skeptical. Maybe she's not the most fashionably dressed 47 year old lady, maybe she's not got the latest hairstyle, and maybe she does live in a small house but what does that matter? The media has started encouraging Susan Boyle to have plastic surgery because she doesn't look the way a amazing vocalist should appear. I read this post on the Empowered Traditionalist blog and I very highly encourage you to read Christa Taylors post and watch the video interviews she conducted about whether or not Susan Boyle should have plastic surgery. Go here to read the post. I think it is a very sad thing when the media and people today try to make other's be more glamourous instead of seeing what a person is like on the inside. God sees the heart of a person and we should care about their heart more than their hair style. I hope people will realize this and will see that just because she isn't super fashionable doesn't mean that Susan Boyle isn't gifted or talented.

Signs of Spring.....finally!

 Saturday, April 18, 2009

Can you believe that today I nearly got sunburned? And to think that just a few days ago I was wearing a jacket! I always expect it to be warm after Easter so I guess I had my expectation fulfilled today. My school year is coming to a close and I wish I were graduating this year but since I'm not a senior yet, I'll just have to save my valedictorian speech for later (of course I am at the top of the class because there's no way I couldn't be).=)

Here are a few pictures for my readers. I hope you're enjoying Spring where you are!

P.S. I enjoy reading other blogs so if you want me to check out your blog feel free to leave a comment.

The pictures of the tree flowers was taken by my sister Emily.

Because He Lives

Because He Lives: thoughts for Easter

There once was a Father, who loved his Son very much. This Father was a Creator- in fact, he created the whole world. One day he looked down on the world and saw that something had to be done, these people weren't doing right anymore. These people he had created had rebelled against their Maker and were sinning terribly. One day the Father told his Only Begotten Son, "I need to send you to earth so you can die for these sinners."

The Son came to earth, without splendor and wealth. The world despised him and hated him with the greatest hatred possible.

The day came when the Son, now grown, went to the garden of Gethsemane and prayed until drops of blood were pouring down his face. Praying to his Father in heaven, he asked if there was some way he could be spared but if not he would die willingly to save everyone in the world from spending eternity in hell. There ws no other way. Beaten, falsely accused, laughed at, and spit upon; this Only Begotten Son was nailed to a cross and crucified as his very own Father turned away because he could not look upon this man taking the sin of people who lived and had yet to live. There upon the cross Death and Sin were defeated and the Hope was given to the entire human race.

Buried in a cold and borrowed tomb, Jesus Christ lay for three days before overpowering the grave and rising eternally victorious. The Father looked down from heaven and could gladly say "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."

Because The Son of God rose triumphantly from the grave, we have hope. Would you sacrifice your only child to save your accusers, to save murderers, to save Jimmy who kicks every dog he sees, to save Mrs, Brown who steals flour from Joseph's Corner Market?

Jesus Christ lives! Because my Savior lives I can face tomorrow and because he lives all of your fear can be gone. If you haven't given your life back to your Maker, do it today. Christ loves you so much that he was willing to sacrifice what he loved most. Can't you at least give him your faith and your life?

Have a wonderful Resurrection weekend.

Music

 Wednesday, April 8, 2009

Ask anyone who knows me well enough and they'll tell you that I love listening to music, good music that is. A stack of 30 or so Cd's reside in underneath my TV cabinet. There are those Cd's that I occasionally listen to, the ones that I've downloaded to my itunes library, and the Cd's that actually fill up my ipod. One of my "newer" Cd's has the name Christ Only, Always. The Galkin Evangelistic Team is my favorite, or maybe it's a split between them and the Steve Pettit Evangelistic Team. Christ Only, Always is one amazing recording that includes music that is sung from the heart. This Cd isn't just on my ipod, every time I get on itunes it tells me it's my "favorite". If you've never heard of the Galkin Evangelistic Team, visit their website and listen to clips of their recordings. My stack of music grows with each birthday and Christmas but I am sure the Christ Only, Always; is going to stay at the top of that stack.
