The Good Thing and the Best Thing

 Thursday, January 28, 2010

I think I'll always remember my ABEKA dvd teacher (the wonderful Mr. McBride) saying this in class, "Satan will promise you good things so that he can keep you from the best thing." The good things are noble ideas or thoughts of ways we can serve the Lord without leaving our comfort zone. If we fall prey to our own ideas of what God would have us do to serve him, we may still reach people but we will not be the affective Servant that we could be if we were in the will of God and following his path for our service. Volunteering in the local mission, donating to charities, and passing out tracks are all good things but if God has called you to take the gospel to an impoverished country and you're in hometown USA passing out Gospel tacks, you aren't doing the Best Thing. The best things in life will come when we have utterly surrendered to God's will for us and have stepped out of our comfort zone and into the sphere where God would desire to place us. Too often I am enticed by the good things, thinking that I can accomplish the Lord's complete plan for me right where I am, but I know that such a thought isn't personally true in my life. I want to put aside all my good plans to reach for the best plan-the one that my Savior has for me. My plans, my aspirations, and what I can do on my own is nothing compared to what the Lord could do if I would allow him to. I want the Best Thing-the life of service that God will bless in ways I cannot fathom.

Live It

 Saturday, January 23, 2010

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
-Romans 1:16

Have you ever been afraid to call yourself a Christian, afraid to admit that you were a Child of the King, afraid to live the life that God has called you to live? Whenever you and I do that we are showing that we are ashamed to claim Christ as our Lord and Savior. Whether we realize it or not, Satan is trying to make us into cowardly Christians who will compromise and distort what we believe just so that we may seem more appealing to the world. Satan does not want us to live the gospel life-a life which reveals the darkness and shines the gospel of salvation. As Christian's, God has called us to live a life that is not ashamed to do what is right and not ashamed to tell the message of salvation. Before we can live the life that God has called us to live we must first be willing to give up the life that Christ did not call us to live. That life was the life that we so often slip into, the life of fear and pride that keeps us from standing for the truth. We need to lay aside our pride and our selfishness and realize that Christ is humility and yet he is courage.

"Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are stiffened."
-Billy Graham

I want God to mold me into a Christian who is less afraid and more bold. I want to be a Christian who will not be ashamed to speak of the gospel and the message of salvation. I desire the kind of courage that will point to a Greater Strength and better life. Christ has called us to a new life in him-let us LIVE IT.

Do they have Boggle championships?

 Friday, January 22, 2010

Rare Word and Ways to Master Their Meanings-such a book is a language lovers dream title. Over the last weeks I have been reading the book and finding words I never knew existed! Beware, I soon may be trying some new words out. Having read 500 words that are as delightful to learn as it is to eat chocolate, I'm beginning to wonder if their is a world Boggle championship? Think about it, there are millions of words and an endless amount of Boggle playing possibilities. Don't even get me started on Scrabble which is obviously the best game ever invented! I wonder if there is world record for the person who has won the most games of Scrabble? Hm...maybe I should peruse the Internet for information about that. Words, words, words, so many and such an endless possibility of games to play and post to write. I don't think I do Webster enough justice-I'll see if I can remedy that in future writings.

Yes, this was entirely random and a very poor attempt at a post. Check back tomorrow for something more substantial.

Seeking Him

 Tuesday, January 19, 2010

It is with gratitude that I post this guest post that Charity Klicka so kindly wrote for my blog. Charity, may you feel the prescience of our Savior as you and your family continue on in the days ahead. Thanks you for being a shining light in the world. God bless!
Seeking Him
by Charity Klicka

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33

An example of seeking the Lord, was my Dad, Christopher John Klicka. Matthew 6:33 was his life verse, and is also mine. He went Home to be with His “Abba Father”(Galatians 4:6) October 12th of this year. He was a very excellent example of seeking God above all else.

He struggled with Ms for 15 years, longer than I’ve been alive, and after that time God took Him Home. Through His whole life as a speaker and Lawyer, he sought God above all else, and everything else he needed was added into place. He set a good example for me, as to seek the Lord for my Life; it’s like giving God the pen to your life, to let Him write the blueprints for your story.

By “Seek ye first the kingdom of God.” It means to seek to be like God, to do what God wants you to do; For example He wants you to trust Him

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

And to wait on the Him

Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say on the LORD!” Psalm 27:14

My Dad trusted and waited on the Lord, He gave God the pen to His life, and now after being so faithful; He is finally home with His Daddy, and when he got there, God said to him “Well done good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Lord.” (Matthew 25:21)

His righteousness” is all the good and lovely things in life:

(Philippians 4:8), “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”

The things that glorify God.

My Dad sought God’s righteousness; he sought to know more of the Lord.

Even through his hard times he set his goal ahead.

Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of GOD in Christ Jesus.”

And all these things shall be added unto you.” This is the big part! You can’t miss out on this. If we, like my Dad, seek GOD first then ALL THINGS shall be added unto us! Wow, that’s a pretty neat promise. My Dad sought God first above all else, and now he’s with God! No, he didn’t get everything he ever wanted, he was never healed; but he sought God, and God gave him the desires of his heart, “to be with God!”

So we too, like my Dad can seek GOD with all are hearts <3, Matthew 6:33 is a promise. But the verse doesn’t mean life will be easy when you seek God; it means when you seek GOD he will supply your ever need, maybe not the way you want, but He will.

So today and always put your life in His hands, He is there stretching them out for you to take hold of. He will never leave you.

“…for He himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

Power of a Post

 Friday, January 15, 2010

I'll admit that certain blog post topics just stop me in my tracks. While I enjoy viewing pictures, videos, and reading about insights into a blogger's daily life, these usually don't have the impact upon me that topics on the subjects of faith, beliefs, and advice have. When I say "impact" I don't mean that each post influences me into believing whatever the blogger wrote. Impacting me means to provide me with a topic that launches my mind into thinking seriously about a subject and determining what the Lord would think about the idea or subject approached by the blogger. I think that I've not always acknowledged the impression that our writing can have upon the readers. Since we may influence people with our blog posts, it is imperative that we write things in a way that would please God. We have no guarantee that everyone who would drop by our blog would be a Christian and if we're complaining about how hard our life is or using inappropriate language, that could be a negative testimony to someone who isn't saved. We can't underestimate the power of a post in the life of someone who is or isn't a Christian. Let's make sure our post are a good reflection upon Jesus Christ and those who call him their own.
P.S. What is your favorite blog post topic? To let me know what your favorite topic is, drop a comment.=)

Creatio Ex Nihilo

 Monday, January 11, 2010

It takes faith. Faith to believe that God created the universe in six days and it takes faith to believe that God did not create the universe in six days. The question today is this did creatio ex nihilo really happen or are we here just because of some big bang? In the birth of a baby, in the budding of a flower, in the stars in the sky, in the sun that shines; the truth of creatio ex nihilo is all around us. We didn't just happen-God made us happen. There is no way that we are here by random chance or by some formation proceeding out of a primordial soup, we are here because God chose to create us and this spectacular universe. If you believe that *"In the beginning GOD created the heavens and the earth" then realize this, we are here for a purpose. We are here to glorify God, to praise him, to reach others for him, and to enjoy him forever. If we people came from monkeys and the big bang created the earth then there is no purpose for our life because there is no God. However, I am entirely sure that my Savior is the Creator of the universe and he made everything something when he formed it out of nothing. On this side of eternity I will not be able to fully comprehend why God created the world and why he chose to create people for whom he had to die to save by I know that I will believe that: "things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." Do you believe that God is the Creator of this universe? If you do: defend the faith and praise the God who made us something out of nothing.

verses in italic and "__" are Genesis 1:1 and Hebrews 11:3

When there aren't words there is music

 Monday, January 4, 2010

The snow was falling as I drove home for this evening's violin lesson. The beauty of the delicate white flakes and the chilly wind feel inspiring, but music is even more so. I sometimes think that God gave us music so that we might say things that can't be said with mere words. If you're a passionate musician you can go to your instruments and play out all the anger, or sadness, or joy, or praise that is bursting from within your heart. When I can't find any other way to express what I'm feeling I can go to the piano or pick up my violin and it's as though God just brings a tune to your mind and you can play without thinking. We can always go to God in prayer and tell everything to him but sometimes I think he wants to hear our music. To hear what he has given us, to hear us say things that we can't find words to say; to praise him with song. I cannot imagine what it will be like to get to heaven and to hear the sound of millions of voices raised in adoration to the King of Kings-truly that music will be beyond glorious. Music is a voice when there is no voice, the praise when we can't find enough words to praise Him with, and a way of revealing our heart to God. When we haven't any words to say-we have music.

The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.
-Psalm 28:7

2010s First Post!

 Friday, January 1, 2010

Given the fact that I was up until 1:30 this morning, it's a little odd that I would be up at 9 o' clock this morning!=) Some friends came over last night and we had fun time of fellowship together. We watched our tradition New Years Eve favorite of Mr. Beans Holiday. Emily nearly ruptured everyone's eardrums when she blew that fog horn to "ring" in the new year! Fun times! It's strange to think that I'll turn eighteen this year and that I'll graduate from high school next year-where did the time go? I'm looking forward to what God has in store for 2010. No matter what happens, no matter where we go, or what we do; God is there so let's trust him for everything we need this year. May God bless you as we enter 2010! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
-Jeremiah 29:11
